The Committee Room is run by Rachel Wall, a chartered governance professional (ACG, Associate of The Chartered Governance Institute) with experience supporting boards, committees and trustees across the charity, education, public and corporate sectors.
Rachel's work has covered the full rhythm of good governance: preparing agendas and board packs, drafting accurate minutes, tracking decisions and actions, maintaining policies and compliance calendars, advising on meeting procedure, and helping boards turn complicated requirements into practical next steps. She is also a tutor on the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme, teaching Boardroom Dynamics to the next generation of governance professionals.
She created The Committee Room after seeing how often small charities and volunteer-led organisations are expected to manage serious governance responsibilities without staff, specialist support or a sensible budget. The aim is simple: to provide the dependable help a good charity secretary would offer, without expensive consultancy packages, complicated software or unnecessary jargon.
Experience & credentials
Across more than twelve years, Rachel has advised boards, committees and trustees in complex, regulated settings. She is currently Head of Governance for a multi-academy trust and board secretary to a further education college, has served as company secretary to an international corporate group, and tutors Boardroom Dynamics on the Chartered Governance Institute's qualifying programme. Just as importantly for the organisations she now helps, she has been a charity trustee and charity secretary herself — so she knows first-hand what it takes to keep a small, volunteer-led organisation compliant without staff or a big budget.
